CONFIRMATION

1Cor.1:4-9

Intro – What is a confirmation service in the Lutheran church? What is its purpose?

I. It is to confirm one’s faith.  (6)

A. I have accepted Christ.  Jn.1:12

B. I have asked Him to forgive my sin. 1John 1:9

C. I believe He is my Savior.   Rom.10:13, 1Peter 3:15

II. It is a promise to serve the Lord.  (7)   Joshua 24:15

A. To be active in the church.  1Cor.12:7

B. To be an example for Christ. Matt.5:16, Gal.2:20

III. It is a statement of trust.  (8-9)

A. You believe His promises.  Acts 16:31

1. That you are forgiven, blameless in Christ.  2Cor.5:21

2. That He has called you to serve Him.  1Peter 2:9

B. You believe He is coming again for you.  1Thess.4:16-17

Con. – True confirmation is when you affirm your trust in a faithful God.
