A. They had to,  these children were not old enough to walk.     Luke 18:15

B.  They had witnessed what Jesus could do.                Matt.9:5, Matt.11:25-28

C. They wanted to obey His command to bring the children to him. Matt.18:1-6, 10-11, Mt.28:19

D. They wanted their children to have what Jesus offered – Salvation! Acts 16:15, 33, Acts 2:38,                                                                                                                                                          Lk.19:10

II. The parents of Jesus had obeyed God’s command to bring the children to Him.

A. They had followed the OT command.           Gen.17:7,10,12,  Luke 2:21-22

A. Example of John the Baptist.                        Lk.1:44, 15

B. Heaven is for babies as well as adults, but all must come by faith. Mt.19:14-15, Heb.11:6

Con. As Lutherans we do bring our babies to the Lord so He can bless them with forgiveness and salvation.

But we also know that for that relationship to last they must confirm that they have accepted Christ. Rom.10:9
